ChumpCar has a 5 minute minimum pit stop if fueling. With the MR2 Biohazard team at Road Atlanta as you entered the pit lane you had to stop and they put a kitchen timer with magnets on your car that counts down from 5 minutes. You then slowly make your way to your pit space. Once there the driver would get out and man the fire extinguisher while someone else begins refueling the car and at the same time the next driver is getting into the car with the fourth person helping them in with the harness, seat position, and radio. By the time we finishing dumping about 15 gallons of gas into the car and had the next driver ready, including the window net and the door closed, we still had 2 minutes left on our counter. With a rule of 200 treadwear or higher tires we are able to run the full event without changing tires, so we would then kill the time by cleaning the windows or looking at misc things on the car. At about 30 seconds we would start the car and head to pit exit where you had to stop and they made sure the counter was at 0. A few times we got there and were held for a few seconds since it was still not at 0.

Although not extremely cheap to do, these events are a great experience and I recommend it to anyone. It will give you a taste of what an endurance race is about, and it is true wheel to wheel racing vs a HPDE style event. Some events run through the night, but most are split up between two days. Night racing is a whole different animal!

Hey guys, if Rob is pushing for the meet, I have 2 spots in mind - Cunningham Park in Queens and Valley Stream Park in LI. Both spots have a pretty large parking area, bathrooms, playground, BBQ grill and tables.

Reviving this idea...Long Island Meets. We need to do it. NY people don't seem to like to meet up. What's REALLY good with that?

As soon as the weather is better, I'm going to be pushing for this idea.
