The LFA Legacy

I always felt Toyota’s supercar, the Lexus LFA hasn’t received the respect it deserves. This is a car that ranks fifth all time at the Nürburgring and beat the Porsche 911 GT2 RS (7:18), Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 (7:19.63), Ferrari Enzo (7:25.70) and the Nissan GT-R (7:26.70). The LFA respresents Toyota’s passion for technology and racing…just take a look at the detail in their BROCHURE.

I really enjoyed the LFA segment on Jay Leno’s Garage which I highly recommend watching…also love the MR2 plug at ~7:40.

NEMR2 BBQ and Beer meet – Good times and friends

We had a nice turnout of 7 MR2 owners and friends for our first meet of the year. The food at Susie’s was very good, a more smoky style bbq than saucy. They also has nice selection of beers as advertised.
Hope to see more MR2′s and owners come out next month, but for sure an gloomy day we had a great time and a nice turnout.

Future Toyota

With the Prius still reigning king of the hybrids and an ever expanding segment, Toyota continues to lead the way, unveiling its latest hybrid concept the 112mpg FT-Bh at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Toyota’s recently dived into the subcompact market, offering the newer yet smaller Prius C (for city)…making it the greenest in its class. Highlights include 53/46mpg, the highest city mpg on the market for less the $20k that’s a non-plug-in hybrid.

Check out Auto Guide’s review of the Prius C:

While I think Toyota’s onto something big with the Prius line…its terribly slow and fails to capture or be that “sportier” variant. I think they could have stepped it up, making the Prius C a better driving experience. Perhaps first by offering the same the power-train as the regular Prius, putting it at about ~8.2 seconds and/or by adding a 6-speed manual. These 2 items alone would put in competition with the Honda CR-Z.

Bringing The Sport Back To The Car!

So here we have it, Scion marketing tag for the much anticipated FR-S aka FT86! Through it’s conceptual stages, Toyota’s been committed at reviving its sports car line. Passionately focusing on the pure driver experience…and your wallet?

There’s been a ton of buzz about the potential MSRP for the FR-S…so much so, that the above photo surfaced. But its highly UNlikely to be authentic. According to Auto Guide, its “unofficial, but a source inside Scion’s Canada division has let slip to AutoGuide that when the FR-S goes on sale later this year it will start at $27,500 CAD.” This should put the USD MSRP somewhere in the ballpark of $25,000. Recently Toyota’s lead developer confirms a droptop version of FT-86 is in the works.

Amazing Rally Celica lives on at the Mega Web Museum in Tokyo

Another grab from Speedhunters!, one of my favorite blogs.

This celica ST185 is in amazingly original condition, like it just came from a race weekend. With battle scars, dents, and paint chips galore. I epically like the rally crash bar that protects the front end.

Check out the whole story: ST185 Mega Web Museum!

Fuel Tech
Hey guys, as many of you know my Mr2 was chosen as a demo car last summer for Fuel Tech to introduce their Ft300 EMS here in the US. It was a great experience and it was very awesome getting direct support from the engineers that designed this unit and the top techs that do all the R+D. I was very impressed with the unit, it is high quality with a ton of great features.

Fuel tech is a Brazilian company that strives to provide their customers with a very user friendly product using the best and newest technology. They are the top of the market in Brazil and their EMS is running each class’ championship winning car in the Brazilian drag racing circuit. I believe they will become one of the premere EMS brands in the near future.

So here is the opportunity: Fuel Tech will be sending their top technicians out here again next month to do installs and tunes on a few cars. The deal is great, with the purchase of the unit you will get a factory install and tune for $600! Spots are filling up fast! hope we can get some Mr2s involved!

A Proven Formula…

Even when compared to modern standards, our beloved MR2 still possesses the right sports car formula! Canadian auto enthusiast, Justin Pritchard gave us his perspective on his own JDM SW20.

Though most of us basis MR2 owners would disagree with his blowing up turbos and unreliability issues, we wont go there. We’ll definitely agree with him…that this is one of the coolest car’s he’s ever driven. I still get thumbs up from random people for my 2 from time to time. Lastly Justin gives a sense that the MR2 still possesses the character and many of attributes that make for a pure sports car. Cheers!
